The AutoCAD Wblock command writes it to disk. You can also exit the command and use regular AutoCAD commands to edit or finish the symbol you are creating. You can exit the Symbol Builder command and re-enter it at any time. They break wires upon insertion, and appear in the bill of material and various component and wire connection reports.
Symbols created or converted using Symbol Builder are fully compatible with AutoCAD Electrical toolset. (I don't know, myself.) Most likely, I would go about this by only doing the ones I know I'll need at first, then addressing the rest on as-needed basis.You can convert symbols or create custom components on the fly. If you know how to write a script, this might be the kind of thing you can automate. This will return the attributes to their original size AND location, relative to the block's overall insertion point. If that proves to be the case, then your best workflow would depend on exactly what needs to happen with the attributes.Īssuming that you only want to change the graphics, and wanted the attributes to remain COMPLETELY unaffected, then I would: 1) Scale the whole library and 2) Open each block, use SCALE, pick 0,0,0 as the base point, select all the attributes, and scale them back by the opposite (inverse, actually) of whatever value you used to scale the graphics. I can't think of any way to do what you want without having to open each symbol individually and making some sort of adjustment to the attributes. It will always treat them as absolute values. The text-height portion of the command doesn't take into account the proportionate distances between the insertion points of the attributes.
In fact, this is the case whether you scale the graphics or not. And, as Doug noted, when you run the command a second time and tell it to change the attribute text size, the insertion points remain the same while the text size changes. Scaling the whole symbol necessarily affects the insertion points of the attributes. There is no way, using any ACADE tool, to resize the graphics, leaving the text alone.
